Welcome to the Department of Economics at the University of Zambia. The DOE is located in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is one of the original department in the School of humanities and Social Sciences when the University was established in 1966. It is composed of 15 full-time staff involved in teaching, research , consultancy and community work. The Department is assisted by part-time staff and tutors.
The Department runs an undergraduate and post graduate programme s. The undergraduate programme leads to a Bachelor of  Arts with a major in Economics. There are three postgraduate programmes. These are the master of Arts in Economics, a masters of Arts in Economic Policy Management and a Phd by research in Economics. The Department also runs a health economics research and training programme.

Our programmes prepare our students for future postgraduate training and careers in the private and public sectors of the economy.
