‘Promoting sustainable agriculture through high quality education, relevant research and effective outreach’

 The School of Agricultural Sciences started its programmes in 1971 and has since produced many graduates who have assisted in developing agriculture in the region.

Mission
Promoting  effective, efficient and sustainable agriculture through providing high quality education & training; conducting research that is relevant to the needs of society; and Ensuring that the research output is disseminated to the end users through effective outreach programmes.

Mandate

  • Provide high quality teaching  and training in Plant sciences;
  • Bachelor of Agricultural Science
  • Master of Science
  • Doctor of Philosophy
  • Conduct  research in agriculture & horticulture including cultivated and indigenous plants and that is relevant to the needs of the society and industry at large;
  • Develop effective linkage systems with other institutions, individuals to promote system synergies;
  • Promote effective methods of outreach to ensure that research findings are disseminated to end- users.
