UNDERGRADUATE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

In addition to satisfying the General University Entrance Requirements, candidates for admission to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Mass Communication, or Bachelor of Social Work, and candidates who hope to transfer at the end of their first year to the School of Law for the degree of Bachelor of Law, must satisfy the following School requirements:
1. The candidate must obtain credit level passes in the Zambian School Certificate (or equivalent) in:
(a) English Language
(b) Mathematics or Geography or History; and
(c) three subjects drawn from Schedules A, C and D including Geography or
History if these were not selected under (b).

Schedule A
Agricultural Science, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Human Biology, Physical Science, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Science, Combined Science.

Schedule C
Accounts/Principles of Accounts, Additional Mathematics, Additional General Science, Commerce, Economics, English Literature, Food and Nutrition, History, Geography, Additional Physics, Geology, A language other than English or a Zambian language.

Schedule D
Art, Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing, Geometrical and Building Drawing, Metal Work, Metal Work (Engineering) Music, Surveying, a Religious subject.

2. A candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Social Work must also submit a
written personal statement of not less than 300 words.
It is emphasized that admission to all programmes in the School is highly competitive and that possession of the minimum entrance requirements does not of itself guarantee that an applicant will be admitted.
