UNZA - Chainama sign MoU

The University of Zambia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chainama College of Health sciences to allow the college offer Degree Programmes through the School of Medicine.

The overall goal of the memorandum of understanding is to create collaboration between the ministry of health and the University of Zambia, school of Medicine in areas including education and training, research, staff development and service delivery.

The programmes will be of competitive duration and better career progression prospects, thus marking a new phase of maximising the potential of the human resource in health training and education.

The occasion was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr Davy Chikamata who signed on behalf of Chainama and Ministry of Heath while UNZA Vice-ChancellorProfessor Stephen Simukanga signed on behalf of UNZA.

Dr Chikamata described the occasion as a very important milestone in the improvement and delivery of health sciences education in the country.

“Mr. Vice Chancellor Sir, your institutions' reception to allow the Chainama College of Health Sciences to offer degree programmes under the umbrella of the University of Zambia, is an important recognition of the important role your institution plays in the provision of quality education to graduates who are being trained to work in the health sector”, he said

Chainama college of health sciences has affiliated all its programmes to the university of Zambia , these being:-

>   Clinical officer general,

>   Clinical officer psychiatry,

>   Optometry technologists and

>   Environmental health technologists
