Books for Africa Donates to UNZA

Books for Africa have donated over 22,000 books to the University of Zambia worth over US $12,000. Speaking at the event held at UNZA Main Library,  on 17th September, 2014 Books for Africa Ambassador Henry Bromelkamp congratulated the University of Zambia for the participation that made the book donation a success.

Mr Bromelkamp stated that the funding towards the shipment of the 22,000 books of different subjects  was jointly done by the University of Zambia Management, Better World Books, Merck Pharmaceutical and Books for Africa.
“The goal of Books for Africa is to ensure that everyone is  in walkable distance to a selection of books because the knowledge of the world is in books,” said Mr Bromelkamp.

And Acting University of Zambia Vice Chancellor Prof Enala Tembo Mwase described the event as a happy moment relevant to the core function of the University.
Prof Mwase thanked Books for Africa for the shot in the arm book donation which was timely as the institution would  be re-opening and receiving first year students shortly.
Speaking at the same Event University of Zambia Council Chairperson Mrs. Sherry Thole expressed gratitude towards Books for Africa for the book donation which would  help increase the capacity of the University library.
She said the UNZA library was a national heritage center and the donated books would provide contemporary reading material to support knowledge creation in the nation.
Mrs Thole also commended Government's efforts to expand access to higher education through the increase in the number of universities in the country.
