| PROFESSORS/LECTURERS TO FILL VACANCIES IN THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE IN DIFFERENT DEGREE PROGRAMS |

WITH SUPPORT FROM THE MEDICAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE (MEPI) PROJECT THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE HAS DETERMINED TO RECRUIT PROFESSORS/LECTURERS TO FILL VACANCIES IN THE DIFFERENT DEGREE PROGRAMS IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE STRATEGIC PLAN 2012-2016. THIS IS AIMED AT INCREASING THE NUMBER AND QUALITY OF GRADUATES.
1. DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMYMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: To teach and carry out related academic tasks, conduct research and perform relevant duties in clinical service. QUALIFICATIONS a) A higher degree in Human Anatomy (MSc/PhD) b) A medical qualification (MBChB) or equivalent would be an added advantage c) Should be familiar with all branches of the subject (gross anatomy, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy) d) Must have basic histological and anatomical techniques. 2. DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc/PhD in any of the specialties: Cellular Pathology/Molecular Biology/Immunology/Medical Biochemistry/Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science/Bateriology/Medical Virology/Anatomy and Histology/Medical Physiology b) Teaching experience at graduate level will be preferred. 3. DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc/PhD in Medical Education with specialization in: curriculum development, Assessment Movement and Evaluation, Teaching and Lecturing. b) Master of Medical Education or Masters Degree in a health related subject with a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education c) At least 3 years experience in teaching 4. DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc/PhD with specialization in 1. Chemical Pathology 2. Histopathology 3. Haematology 4. Medical Microbiology 5. Parasitology 6. Virology b) At least 3 years working and/or teaching experience 5. DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc/PhD in the following fields: Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Biopharmacy, Medical Chemistry, Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice , Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy or any related subject area. b) At least 3 years teaching experience in pharmacy degree program. 6. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOTHERAPY QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc /PhD in Physiotherapy with specialization in following fields a. Respiratory Physiotherapy b. Neural Physiotherapy c. Manual Therapy d. Electrotherapy b) Experience with graduate student supervision will be an added advantage. 7. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGICAL SCIENCES QUALIFICATIONS a) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MBBS) b) MSc/PhD in Pharmacology/Physiology c) Interest in Endocrinology/Oncology/Therapeutics would be an added advantage 8. DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY QUALIFICATIONS a) MMed (Psy) or equivalent Post-graduate qualification such as FRCPsy and/or MD/PhD with specialization in 1. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry 2. Substance Misuse 3. Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry 4. Forensic Psychiatry 5. Neuropsychiatry 6. Psychotherapy and Counseling b) At least 3 to 5 years working experience 9. DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY QUALIFICATIONS a) Master of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) or equivalent such as MRCOG/FRCOG, MD b) Additional qualifications with a research component like MPH/PhD would be an added advantage c) At least 3 years relevant teaching experience at university level 10. DEPARTMENT OF INTERNAL MEDICINE QUALIFICATIONS a) Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) or equivalent such as MRCP/FRCP, b) Additional qualifications with a research component like MD/PhD or specialization in the following fields will be preferred: a. Infectious Disease b. Cardio-Respiratory Medicine c. Endocrinology d. Dermato-Venereology e. Radiology f. Accident & Emergency Medicine c) At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience 11. DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY QUALIFICATIONS a) Master of Medicine (Surgery, Ortho, Urology, Ophthalmology) or equivalent such as MRCS/FRCS, MD b) Additional qualifications with a research component like MD/PhD or specialization in the following fields will be preferred;| a. Cardio-Thoracic Surgery b. Ophthalmology c. Urology d. General Surgery At least 3 years relevant teaching experience at university level 12. DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTHESIA & CRITICAL CARE QUALIFICATIONS a) Master of Medicine (Anesthetics &CC) or equivalent such as FRCOA, b) Additional qualifications with a research component like MD/PhD would be an added advantage c) At least 3 years relevant teaching experience at university level 13. DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS & CHILD HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS a) Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) or equivalent such as MRCP/FRCP, b) Additional qualifications with a research component like MD/PhD and specialization in the following fields will be preferred: a. Paediatric Cardio-Respiratory Medicine b. Paediatric Heamato-Oncology c. Paediatric Nephrology d. Neonatology c) At least 3 years relevant teaching experience at university level 14. DEPARTMENT OF NURSING SCIENCES QUALIFICATIONS a) MSc/PhD in Nursing or related field with specialties in: a. Community Health Nursing/Clinical Nursing, b. Medical Surgical Nursing c. Adult Nursing/ d. Nursing Managemen e. Nursing Education f. Mental Health b) At least 2 teaching experience c) Good computer skills, mature and self motivated 15. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS a) MPH/PhD/DPH r equivalent qualification, b) Additional qualifications with specialization in the following fields will be preferred: a. Health promotion b. Health Policy/Management/Economics c. Bio-Ethics/Research Ethics d.
