| POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR 2012 ACADEMIC YEAR |

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to read for the following postgraduate programmes for the 2012 academic year at the University of Zambia School of Medicine. The minimum entry requirements to these programmes are as follows:
(a)Master of Science in Chemical Pathology (b)Master of Science in Clinical Pathology (c)Master of Science in Haematology (d)Master of Science in Microbiology The applicants for the above (a – d) must possess (i) a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical sciences from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University with a minimum of credit or better. (ii)Must have some experience in laboratory sciences. Work experience in a hospital laboratory will be an added advantage. (e)Master of Clinical Pharmacy (MCPharm) The applicant must possess (i)A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University with a minimum of credit or better. (ii)Must have some experience in Clinical Pharmacy. Work experience in any area of clinical pharmacy will be an added advantage. (f)Master of Medicine in Pathology (g)Master of Medicine in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (h)Master of Medicine in General Surgery (i)Master of Medicine in Urology (j)Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (k)Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine (l)Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health (m)Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology (n)Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (o)Master of Medicine in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (p)Master of Science HIV Medicine The applicant must possess (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. (ii)The candidate must have full registration with the Health Professionals Council of Zambia (HCPZ) and possess a certificate of good standing. (iii)Applicants seeking government sponsorship will be required to have completed their mandatory rural posting (q)Master of Science in Nursing The applicants must possess (i) A bachelor’s degree in nursing with credit or better in from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. (ii)Applicants must be registered with the General Nursing Council of Zambia. (r)Master of Science in Epidemiology The applicants must possess (i) A Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited University in health related life sciences, veterinary medicine or other biological sciences or appropriate social sciences such as demography. The degree classification should be a minimum of a merit for social science based degrees and a credit for life and health, biological or veterinary sciences. (ii)Experience or evidence of ability to handle quantitative approaches will be an added advantage. (s)Master of Science in Human Physiology The applicant must possess (i) A medical degree or bachelor’s degree with credit or better in Human Biology or Biological sciences from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University (t)Master of Science in Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics The applicant must possess (i)A bachelor’s degree with credit or better in Physiotherapy from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. (ii)Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia. (u)Master of Science in Biochemistry The applicant must possess (i)A medical degree or bachelor’s degree in Biological or Physical sciences with a pass of credit or better from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. (v)Master of Public Health The applicant must possess; (i)A medical degree or Bachelor's degree with credit or better from a recognized University. (ii)At least two years post qualification experience. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree Programmes These programmes are available in the School and further information may be obtained from the addressees given below or from Assistant Dean (Postgraduate) in the School. Candidates for admission to Doctoral Studies should posses a Master's degree or its equivalent in a relevant field. RESEARCH AFFILIATION SCHEME The Affiliation Scheme allows a researcher from outside the University and /or from outside the country to be affiliated to the University of Zambia for the purpose of conducting research. METHOD OF APPLYING Application forms can be obtained from the University of Zambia Website www.unza.zm or Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies. Completed application forms should be accompanied by a payment of a non- refundable application fee of K150, 000.00 for Zambians and US$60.00 for non-Zambians.. Postal and Money Orders are no longer accepted.
