It has often been said that a Library is the heart of the University. This is certainly the case at the University of the University of Zambia. The University of Zambia Library is the nation's leading academic library and serves as a national reference library. The University Libraries is a coordinated network of 3 libraries offering a wealth of informational and scholarly resources pertinent to the academic departments, programs, and services of the University. It is essential to the creation of a quality educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students and in the support of the quality research in all fields.

The Library's mission is to make its resources available and useful to the entire university community and the Zambian people and to sustain and preserve a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations.

The Office of the Librarian is tasked to set policy and to direct and support programs and activities to accomplish the Library's mission.

As Librarian, I oversee my dedicated staff who acquire, catalog, preserve, and make available library collections within our three libraries.
