Announcement for the BARRICK GOLD SCHOLARSHIP in honor of Peter J.V. Kinver in Master of Mineral Sciences (MINING ENGINEERING) tennable at the University of Zambia, School of Mines starting in October of academic year 2014/15.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Programme: The Barrick scholarship scheme shall be awarded to a candidate selected to pursue full-time post graduate master of Mineral Sciences degree studies in Mining Engineering.
  • Age: Maximum 25 years as on the first term of the academic admission for the program.
  • Candidate should NOT be in any kind of employment; should not be in possession of any other scholarship; no criminal record; recipient of the Barrick Scholarship will not be permitted to draw from any other scholarship/financial aid/stipend from any other source.
  • Minimum Qualification: Candidates applying for this scholarship must be Zambian holding a bachelors degree in mining engineering with
    • Merit or better from University of Zambia or any university of similar standing.
    • Upper Credit or better from University of Zambia or any university of similar standing with at least two years working experience in the mining industry.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP:
The scholarship covers reimbursement of tuition fees, hostel fees and incidental fees up to $1,500 per academic session (term).

DURATION:

The scholarship covers the duration of the masters degree in mining engineering of two years.

APPLICATION:

Prospective candidates must satisfy admission requirements for postgraduate studies (Masters Degree in Mineral Sciences in Mining Engineering) at the University of Zambia.
