CAPACITY BUILDING FOR POLICY AND PROGRAMME SHORT COURSES FOR AUGUST & NOVEMBER, 2018

The University of Zambia, Institute of Economic and Social Research (INESOR) invites applications from interested individual to study for the following courses:

1. Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

The course is aimed at introducing participants to designing, monitoring and evaluation; it demonstrates how M&E can be used for effective programming and decision-making. The course covers the following broad subjects:

  • Concepts and purpose of M&E
  • Project designs, logical frameworks and steps in project design
  • M&E Systems and plans and their development
  • Monitoring, management and use of M&E for decision making
  • Evaluation designs and implementation

2. Public Policy Analysis

Public Policy Analysis is aimed at introducing participants to the Public Policy formulation process; reasons for Public Policies; models for analyzing and evaluating Public Policies. The course uses practical cases of Public Policies to illustrate these processes and demonstrate the causes of Public Policy failure or success. The course covers the following broad subjects:

  • Introduction to Public Policy
  • Agenda setting for Public Policy
  • Models for analyzing Public Policies
  • Evaluating Public Policy ( Systems Models)
  • Evaluating Public Policy (Process Models)

Entry Requirements

University/College qualifications

Working in research/planning/ monitoring and evaluation/ behavior change/public policy environments

The courses target policy, programme, M&E managers and practitioners; decision makers; and researchers interested in enhancing their capacities in policy and programming. For the data analysis course, some working knowledge of basic statistics is required.
