61% of Zambians live in rural areas,1 mostly as subsistence farmers, lving year-to-year and cultivating a large variety of crops including but not limited to maize, cotton, tobacco, sunflower, sweet potato, beans, soya beans, ground nuts, cassava, millet and sorghum.  Farmers harvest what they can for their families and sell the available surplus in order to pay school fees or other household expenses.  As a link between unversity knowledge and Zambian society, TDAU has developed the following products in an attempt to lighten the toil on farmers and provide opportunities for income generation.  Formerly, some of these products are directly involved in field cultivation, others are more in keeping with rural transport devices and farm power.
