Role of the Department

Welcome to the University of Zambia Public Relations Department.

The University of Zambia, which is the country’s premier university established by the University of Zambia Act of 1965, has the mandate to provide world class higher education to the people of Zambia and beyond its borders through teaching and learning, research and community service.

The Unit is responsible for advising University Management on Public Relations issues, both internal and external. Other functions include guiding the Institution in Fairs and all matters pertaining to public events and publicity. 

Purpose of Department

To promote and protect the University of Zambia’s image, integrity and reputation and earn stakeholders’ goodwill through dissemination of relevant information through various media.

Responsibility

Responsible for planning, monitoring, coordinating and managing the University's Public Relations policy and issue official statements on behalf of the University in liaison with Management, schools, units and departments.

The Public Relations department is a vital department as it plays the management function of information dissemination to the University’s internal and external stakeholders in order to protect the integrity, reputation and image of the institution of higher learning.
