Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to read for the following postgraduate programmes (By- Research Only) for the 2017 Academic Year at the University of Zambia. The minimum entry requirements to these programmes are as follows:

SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES

(a)    Master of Science in Microbiology
(b)    Master of Science in Parasitology
(c)    Master of Science in Immunology

The applicant must meet the following admission requirements:

i)    Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia or any other recognized University (local or international) in either Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences OR Veterinary Medicine/Sciences, with credit or better in the particular specialization.
ii)    In addition, a minimum of two years working experience is also required.

Duration of programme:

This Masters of Science programme is expected to complete within 24 months AND should not take more than 48 months.

(d)    Master of Science in Pharmacognosy
(e)    Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The applicant must meet the following admission requirements;

i)    A Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Phytochemistry, Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmaceutical Technology OR any Natural Product Sciences from a recognized University, with a credit or better.
ii)    A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (BPharm) from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University with a credit or better.

(f)    Master of Science in Pharmaceutics
(g)    Master of Science in Pharmacy Practice
(h)    Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacology and Nutrition

The applicant must meet the following admission requirements;

i)    A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (BPharm) OR BSc in Pharmacology from the     University of Zambia     or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University with     a minimum of credit or better
ii)    A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences OR Pharmaceutical Technology from     a recognized     University with a minimum of merit.
iii)    A minimum of two (2) year professional work experience in Pharmacy will be added advantage
iv)    Work experience in any area of Clinical Pharmacy will be an added advantage
v)    Full registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
vi)    Relevant supporting reference from the employer (for in-service applicants)

Duration of programme:

This Masters programme is expected to complete within 24 months AND should not take more than 48 months.

(i)    Master of Science in Physiotherapy – Orthopaedics
(j)    Master of Science in Physiotherapy - Geriatrics and healthy Ageing
(k)    Master of Science in Physiotherapy – Rehabilitation Sciences
(l)    Master of Science in Physiotherapy – Neurology (Adult and Paediatrics)
(m)    Master of Sports Science with Management

The applicant must meet the following admission requirements;

a)    A Bachelor’s degree with credit or better in Physiotherapy from the University of Zambia or an equivalent qualification from any recognized University.
b)    Full registration with the health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

Duration of programme:

This Masters programme is expected to complete within 18 months AND should not take more than 24 months.

SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to read for the following postgraduate programmes for the 2017 Academic Year at the University of Zambia. The minimum entry requirements to these programmes are as follows:

(a)  Master of Science in Agronomy (Soil Science)
(b)   Master of Science (Integrated Soil Fertility Management)

The applicant must possess:

(i)        Degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences with a credit or better of the University of Zambia or another recognized University
(ii)       Posses qualifications deemed equivalent to the Degree of Agricultural Sciences with credit or better
(iii)       Have had three years of experience after receiving the degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences, or otherwise
(iv)      Satisfy the University Senate of their ability to pursue postgraduate studies in their chosen fields.

Notwithstanding paragraphs (i) and   (ii) above, the School, at the request of a Department, may require applicants, as a condition for admission to a particular Master’s programme, to take pre-request courses or a qualifying examination at the discretion of the Board of Studies, subject to approval of Senate.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PH.D.) DEGREE PROGRAMMES

These programmes are available in ALL the Schools and further information may be obtained from the addressees given below or from Assistant Deans (Postgraduate) in the respective Schools. Candidates for admission to Doctoral Studies should possess a Master's degree or   its equivalent in a relevant field.

RESEARCH AFFILIATION SCHEME

The Affiliation Scheme allows a researcher from outside the University and /or from outside the country to be affiliated to the University of Zambia for the purpose of conducting research. This is available in all Schools and the Institute of Economic and Social Research. For further information, please contact the Research Affiliation Officer at the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies.
