The University of Zambia in conjunction the AfricanDevelopment Bank have launched the Education for Sustainable Development in Natural Mineral Resources Management project, which will be executed by the University's School of Mines under the Mineral Processing and Metallurgy Department.

This project aims to contribute to youth employment and inclusive economic growth through sustainable mineral resource development. This will be achieved through two main actions:

1) building the capacity of the university of Zambia to run an in-house master’s programme in sustainable mineral resource development by upgrading the knowledge and skills of six lecturers through relevant short courses offered by the university of cape town and stellenbosch;

2) supporting the post-graduate training of 75 students within the framework of the on-going master’s programme jointly run by the University of Zambia, the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University.
