The University of Zambia (UNZA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southwest University of Science and Technology (SWUST) at a signing ceremony held on Friday 1st December, 2017 at Confucius Institute at the Great East Road campus, Lusaka.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Enala Tembo-Mwase signed on behalf of UNZA and Vice-President, Prof. Dong Faqing represented SWUST during the signing ceremony.  This five-year-MoU is focus at developing programmes for academic and cultural interchange, scientific research and other activities and areas of mutual benefit.

And Prof. Tembo-Mwase said that UNZA hoped to emulate how the education sector has contributed to national development in China.

She added that despite the considerable differences in development margin between the two nations, Zambia can bridge the gap by engaging in such collaborative agreements.

Meanwhile, SWUST Vice-President, Prof. Dr. Dong Faqing said he hoped to see workshops arranged between the two universities soon to discuss the focus areas of the MoU. He added that SWUST would be looking forward to the beginning of the lecturer and student exchange programmes between the two universities.

SWUST is a leading scientific and technological research institution located in the Sichuan province of China. It offers three (3) first-level doctorate degree disciplines in 9 subjects namely Engineering, Agriculture, Science, Economics, Law, Literature, Management , Education and Arts and hosts over 30, 000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
