The University of Zambia (UNZA) received an endowment of US$100,000 from Tullow Zambia B.V. on Friday, 11 August 2017 in Kasama at the occasion to mark the launch of the oil exploration by Tullow Zambia B.V. in Block 31 in Kasama, Northern Province. The project to explore for oil by the Tullow Zambia B.V. was officially launched by His Excellency the President, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

The University of Zambia emerged victorious during the 91st Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka held under the theme: "Promoting a Green Economy", from 2nd - 7th August 2017 by scooping the Best Educational Institution Exhibit overall award two years running. Additionally, the University managed to win the second prize in the Best Commercial Exhibit category.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to study for a trans-disciplinary and inter-institutional (University of Zambia, University of Cape Town & Stellenbosch University) Master of Mineral Science in Sustainable Mineral Resources Development Degree programme, offered through the Department of Metallurgy and Mineral Processing in the School of Mines at University of Zambia.
