Welcome to the Institute of Distance Education’s web page. Our Institute offers opportunities for busy people, especially those who are in regular employment, and those who, for one reason or another, did not receive university education, to have access to university education. Through the Institute of Distance Education the University of Zambia offers an alternative method of education delivery which is quite convenient for the categories of people mentioned above. Through distance education students, can obtain the same qualifications as those obtained by their full-time counterparts. We are currently offering seven (7) degree programmes and a Diploma programme. The fact that the same lecturers who teach conventional students also teach distance students and the quality assurance measures provided through the Quality Assurance and Research (QAR) department in collaboration with the Learner Support Services (LSS) and Programme Development and Production (PDP) departments ensure delivery and maintenance of good quality education. In spite of the various challenges that the Institute may be facing, we are set and determined to continue providing good quality services. The desire for Service and Excellence, as our institution motto goes, will help us to diversify and expand our education delivery services through the distance learning mode. Moreover, through your support, and that of other stakeholders, we will achieve a lot. Support us to help us give you the best service.
