Biography

Dorothy Nthani joined the university as a lecturer class II in August 2014. Before engagement at the University of Zambia, she worked for a long time at the Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) in a similar capacity of human resource development; in different portfolios; starting with practical instructor and rising through the ranks to heading the Food and Nutrition Department. She also worked on various consultancy assignments for various organizations in different capacities.    

At the university, she is involved in the core activities of the university, regarding teaching, research and community service. She mainly teaches undergraduate courses (Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition Disorders, food and Nutrition Security and Nutrition Assessment including supervising students in their research projects). At masters levels she is involved with supervising nutrition oriented research projects. Research interest includes health promotion and nutrition in the life cycle, food and nutrition security and child health.

Research Interests

Her research work over the past years has mainly evolved around public health nutrition, maternal adolescent and child nutrition and food and nutrition security assessments.
