CAPOLSA is a research Centre located at the University of Zambia in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences - Department of Psychology. CAPOLSA was founded in May 2011 and has been in existence for 14 years The purpose of CAPOLSA is to promote literacy (in the local languages) and conduct technically robust research, with the potential to bring tangible benefits to the wider Zambian society and to serve with excellence.

CAPOLSA has conducted vast research in the field of education with a focus on foundational learning and literacy, early childhood education (ECE) and development (ECD) etc. In the field of literacy, the Centre has contributed to evidence-based policy formulation; the design and production of instructional materials, including early grade reading materials in the 7 local languages; curriculum development; teacher training; and publications from research.
