Department of Language and Social Sciences Education Postgraduate Programmes Admission Criteria

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGE AND SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION

  1. Introduction

Applicants to postgraduate programmes at masters and doctoral levels in the Department of Language and Social Sciences  Education of the School of Education of the University of Zambia must take into account the following admission criteria for each programme.

  2  Masters Programmes

   2.1 Master of Education in Literacy, Language & Applied Linguistics (2 Years Duration - Taught)

    Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Literacy, Language, Literature and Applied Linguistics or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised institution
  2. A credit or better in a bachelor’s degree in Literacy, Language and Applied Linguistics or other related fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution.
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

2.2 Master of Education in Curriculum Studies (2 Years Duration - Taught)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Curriculum studies or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised institution
  2. A credit or better in a bachelor’s degree in curriculum studies or other relevant fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution.
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

2.3 Master of Education in Environmental Education (2 Years Duration - Taught)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised higher learning institution
  2. A credit or better in a bachelor’s degree in environmental education or other relevant fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution.
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

2.4 Master of Education in Civic Education (2 Years Duration - Taught)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Civic Education or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised higher learning institution
  2. A credit or better in a bachelor’s degree in Civic Education or other relevant fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution.
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

2.5 Master of Education in Geography Education (2 Years Duration - Taught)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Civic Education or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised higher learning institution
  2. A credit or better in a bachelor’s degree in Civic Education or other relevant fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution.
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

 

3. Doctor of Philosophy Programmes

3.1 Doctor of Philosophy in Literacy and Language (By research only)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Master’s degree in Literacy, Language and Applied Linguistics or other related fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in Literacy, Language and Applied Linguistics or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised institution
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

3.2 Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics (By research only)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Master’s degree in Literacy, Language and Applied Linguistics or other related fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in Literacy, Language and Applied Linguistics or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised institution
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.

3.3 Doctor of Philosophy in Civic Education (By research only)

Applicants to this programme must possess:

Applicants to this programme must possess:

  1. A Master’s degree in Geography Education or other related fields from the University of Zambia or any other recognised Institution
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in geography education or any other relevant field from the University of Zambia or any other recognised institution of Higher Learning
  3. This admission criterion might change or be adjusted depending on the number of applicants, staff work load and circumstances surrounding the administration of the programme.
