Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science

A PhD degree programme in Plant Science involves carrying out specialized research with focus on aspects such as, plant breeding, plant biotechnology, plant pathology, plant physiology, horticulture, seed technology, weed science and entomology. The PhD degree is conferred on upon submission of a written thesis which reports results of research work that makes an original contribution to the area of study.

Duration

3 Years (Full-Time)

  • Candidates must be Graduates of the University of Zambia or other recognized Universities who hold a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related Science field;
  • Candidates whom the university recognizes as having equivalent standing to holders of the Master’s Degree of the University;
  • Candidates who do not possess the primary degree but have completed a Master’s degree;

Notwithstanding the provisions stipulated in a, b and c, an applicant for admission to the Doctor of philosophy programme may be required to take a qualifying examination and in certain cases to pursue an approved course in preparation.
