Master of Science in Chemistry (Taught courses and Research)

The Department of Chemistry offers the following Masters programmes in various specialisations including Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry.


Option A
Two-year programme in Chemistry by taught courses and research.

Option B
Two-year programme in Chemistry by research.

Option C
Three-year integrated programme in Chemistry by taught courses and research. 

The applicant must possess:

Taught

(i) A Bachelor of Science Degree from a recognized University with a major in C Chemistry

(ii) Minimum of a Merit or its equivalent

(iii) Must have sufficient Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, Physical and Biochemistry courses at 3rd and 4th year level with an average B grade or better.

(iv) A Minimum of Three (3) years relevant work experience may also be considered

By Research

(i) A Bachelor of Science Degree from a recognized University with a major in Chemistry

(ii) Bachelor of Science Degree with Education with a Major in Chemistry with a minimum of Credit or its equivalent 10

 

(iii) Must have taken at least 12 Chemistry Semester Courses from Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, Organic and Biochemistry at 3rd and 4th year level with an average grade of at least C+

(iv) A Minimum of Two (2) years relevant work experience may also be considered

  • Part-time fees for postgraduate programmes are charged at 50% of the full-time rate.
