A wide range of health care and health promotion services is offered at UNZA Clinic. These include general Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations, admissions (In-Patient), eye care services, and ultrasound, laboratory, pharmacy, and ambulance services. Others are Mental Health services Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Clinic as well as Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services including Antenatal and Family Planning services

Sections, Management and Administration of UNZA Health Services

UNZA Health Services is one of the departments under the office of the Registrar at the University of Zambia. The Head of Department, the Medical Officer, reports to the Registrar who is one of the Principal Officers of the University. The day to day affairs of UNZA Health Services is run by UNZA Clinic Management. Like other departments at the University of Zambia, UNZA Health Services has sections. These are;

1. Medical
This section is responsible for medical care for all clients including both in and out patients at UNZA Health Services. The Medical section is headed by the Medical Licentiate Practitioner. The Senior Clinical Officer is responsible for day to day supervision of Clinical Officers and reports to the Medical Licentiate Practitioner. The Optometry Technologist also belongs to this section.

2. Nursing
This section is responsible for provision of Nursing including maternal and child health care to the community.  The head of this section is the Nursing Officer. The Senior Registered Nurses are is in charge of the wards and other Clinical areas. They make sure that day to day operations in the wards and other clinical areas meet the expected national and international standards. In addition to the Nursing Officer and the Senior Registered Nurse/Midwives, there are Registered Nurses/Midwives in this section. 

3. Laboratory
UNZA Health Services has a modern, well equipped laboratory where a wide range of laboratory investigations are carried out. These include a complete blood count, Urea and Electrolytes/Renal function tests, Liver function tests, Lipid profile, Uric acid. Microbiology tests include tests for Malaria and Tuberculosis .Other tests include those for STIs and HIV. The Laboratory section is headed by the Senior Laboratory Technologist and has laboratory technologist and technician as part of this section.

4. Pharmacy
UNZA Health Services has two well stocked dispensaries to complement health care and health promotion services. Pharmaceutical Services at UNZA Clinic are supported by the Ministry of Health (MOH). The Pharmacy section is headed by the Senior Pharmacy Technologist and currently has the Pharmacy Technologist and the Dispenser as other members of staff in this section. 
The above sections make up the Clinical sections of UNZA Health Services. Within the Clinical sections, there are subsections/specialties or clinics. These include Eye Care, Mental Health, MCH, TB, ART, and Skin Clinics.

5. Public Health Office
UNZA Health Services runs a program to maintain the health and wellness of the university community through various health promotion activities. Activities include HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention, substance abuse awareness and prevention, promotion of healthy lifestyles among young people as well as various activities promoting a healthy and clean environment. The Public Health Coordinator heads this section. The section also has Psychosocial Counsellors on its establishment. There exists a Committee on HIV and AIDS (UCA) appointed by the Vice-Chancellor (VC) to provide technical support, guidance, and oversight in the development and implementation of HIV and AIDS activities at UNZA. The UCA draws membership from experts across the institution and beyond.

5.1 The UNESCO 03 Plus Project
Over a five year period starting in 2022, UNESCO has partnered with UNZA in the O3 Plus project whose goal is to ensure that young people in higher and tertiary education institutions realize positive health, education, and gender equality outcomes through sustained reductions in new HIV infections, unintended pregnancy, and gender-based violence. The project aims to enable young people to reach their full educational potential and contribute more effectively to the development of their countries and regions as graduates, professionals, and young leaders.

6. Accounts
This section is headed by the Accountant. The Accounts Clerk is the other member of this section. Administratively, the Accountant is supervised by the Medical Officer while technically, the Accountant is supervised under the office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). 

7. Stores
This section is a secondment from the office of the Manager, Procurement of the University of Zambia. The stores officer is administratively supervised by the Medical Officer while technically, the Stores Officer is supervised under the office of the Manager, Procurement.

8. Administration and Support services
This section is headed by the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) and comprises staff members with support functions to the department. Other members in this section are Records Clerks, the Management Secretary, Drivers, Porters, and a Messenger. 
The Medical Officer, Heads of sections, the Senior Clinical Officer, the Senior Registered Nurse/Midwife, and the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) constitute the departmental Management Committee. The SAO is responsible for most administrative processes in the Clinic. The SAO supervises all support staff other than those under stores and finance. The SAO is supervised by the Medical Officer but there is an interface in supervision and guidance with the office of the Deputy Registrar, Administration.
