University of Zambia, School of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Food Science and Nutrition Signs MoU with Neri Clinic (i4Life - Irish NGO) for Nutrition Internship and practicum site

Some of the activities planned to be implemented in this MoU, are: 1. Capacity building of community health workers (CHWs) and other Neri clinic staff; 2. Placement of BSc. Human nutrition students for field observations, health facility experience and 6 weeks internship programme for third year students 3. One-year internship programme to recent BSc. Human Nutrition graduates; and 4. Joint research, workshops and meetings, leading to joint publications.

Animal Science Modernizes Dairy Practices at Field Station

In its quest to improve both the production and productivity of the dairy herd, the Department of Animal Science has embarked on a programme to modernize the dairy practices undertaken at the School of Agricultural Sciences Field Station. In addition to adopting the use of artificial insemination (AI), the Department recently bought three (3) in-calf dairy heifers that are expected to calf-down early this year. These two measures are intended to improve the dairyness of the herd over time.
